Over the course of 1-2 appointments, a root canal can be painlessly done and helps to prevent an eventual extraction if no action is taken. While many people hear root canal and hide in fear, the procedure is actually quite painless.
Your dentist will go in and remove and inflamed, infected tissue and then clean, disinfect, and shape the inside of the tooth to prepare it and then place a sealant inside of it. It is similar to a filling, but over a larger portion of the tooth. After this is done and the procedure is complete over the 1-2 visits, a protective restoration is placed to help prevent tooth fracture and restore tooth function.
